Calty Design Research, Inc. opened as a tiny operation in El Segundo, CA in 1973. It employed only 6 designers and 25 support staff, but through close-knit teamwork and bold American ingenuity, by 1978, Calty designed the Import Car of the Year -- the Toyota Celica Liftback.

Today, there are three Calty campuses, including one in Ann Arbor, MI.
