Taking your Toyota Camping in Northern Michigan
Camping in Northern Michigan is a ton of fun, but it becomes a real adventure when you take the trip with a Toyota. At Fernelius Toyota in Cheboygan, we’re a family-owned-and-operated dealership that has been serving Michigan since 2004. We’ve put countless drivers behind the wheel of a new Toyota, and our family knows firsthand how a great car elevates camping trips. We recommend loading up for your adventure with Yakima gear, then heading to one of these sites out in nature:
- Huron-Manistee National Forests. Located between the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, this forest covers nearly a million acres. Explore dry sand prairie remnants, coastal marshlands, dunes, oak savannahs, fens, bogs, and marshes.
- Ludington State Park. Situated between Hamlin Lake and Lake Michigan, this park boasts three campgrounds, beaches and sand dunes, a lighthouse, wetlands, marshlands, and forests. There are several miles of shoreline along both lakes, and lots of wildlife viewing from the park’s extensive trail system.
- Wilderness State Park. With more than 10,000 acres, Wilderness State Park offers year-round activities, including a plethora of trails and a designated dark sky preserve to watch the nighttime sky. The park also features 26 miles of shoreline along Lake Michigan, as well as a swimming beach and dog beach. Its 250 modern campsites are divided into two units and include 18 full hook-up sites as well as nine tent-only sites. For a more glamping type of experience, rustic cabins and bunkhouses are also available.
